Montreal, October 21, 2026. Tangram HQ Studio introduces RenoPop, a mobile app for tracking renovation work, built for homeowners who manage their own work, from a single room to the whole house. RenoPop is aimed first at homeowners in Quebec and across Canada. It is in pre-alpha: it is not in stores yet and is not offered to the public.
The idea behind RenoPop
Managing the work on your home means holding several threads at once, even for a single room or a paint job: who does what, what is left to do this week, what you noticed on site. In a spreadsheet, emails and scattered notes, those threads are easy to lose. RenoPop is designed to keep the essentials of the work in one place, on the phone, with tools made for someone who isn't in the trade.
The app serves two ways of working with equal weight: hiring the work out to a contractor, or doing it yourself. For each work package, the homeowner says who does the work: themselves (DIY), a contractor, or both (hybrid). They can change their mind without losing anything. In RenoPop, "contractor" means the professional the homeowner hires.
What exists in the working version
These features exist in the working version. The worksite-tracking ones are in final verification, including on devices.
- Properties and projects: renovation projects are organized by property, with several projects per property.
- Areas and work packages: the work is broken down into work packages, linked to one or more areas of the house.
- Who does the work, package by package: DIY, contractor or hybrid.
- Tasks and progress: due dates, statuses and priorities, with the progress of each work package and of the project based on completed tasks.
- Calendar: due dates, overdue tasks and what's coming up, in RenoPop's own calendar.
- Worksite journal: dated entries, sorted by category and linked to an area, a work package or a task.
- Deficiencies: problems found during the work, tracked through to their correction.
- Project dashboard: progress, overdue items, upcoming due dates, latest journal entries and open deficiencies.
Designed for the Canadian market
RenoPop is designed for Canadian homeowners. Its interface is available in Canadian French and Canadian English, and the app is aimed first at homeowners in Quebec and across Canada. It is being developed for iPhone and Android phones.
Its design principles
- No account to create.
- No ads and no subscription: the planned model is a one-time purchase.
- Designed to work without an Internet connection.
- RenoPop doesn't send data to any server: it is stored on the phone, and only leaves it if the homeowner shares it or if the phone's backup is turned on.
These are design principles; their formal verification is planned before any store release. RenoPop makes no payments and gives no construction, legal or tax advice.
Status
RenoPop is in pre-alpha. It is not in stores yet and is not offered to the public. An internal test with a small group is planned next. No date is announced. See also the RenoPop page.
